These are the suspension parts, (Kingpins), for the University of Michigan Solar Car the "M-Pulse", the winners of the American Solar Challenge 2001.
These were milled from solid blocks of 7075 aluminum. Over 25 pounds of material were removed to make each piece ending up at 2-1/2 pounds!
There are four different versions of these parts, one for each wheel.
The Kingpins are approx. 13" long X 4" high. The wall thickness is less than 1/4" and the ears are .100" thick.
